Immediately after independence, the first President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta felt that he needed to assure the white community that he’s not the leader of ‘darkness and death’ as described by the British governor , Patrick Renison. He charmed the white farmers of ‘white highlands’ Kinangop area, Central Kenya. Jomo ended a successful day with addressing the white farmers at Nakuru town hall with a masterstroke of PR exercise. He told farmers ‘My brothers and sisters, i’ve made mistakes, you’ve made mistakes. You forgive me, I’ll forgive you. Let us start with a clean slate.’ The whites in the big hall were jubilant.
