Norwegian actress and film director turned UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Liv Ullman in a famine camp lifting a child during the Ethiopian famine between 1984 and 1985. She lived with the famous director and producer, Ingmar Bergman and the couple have a daughter. Accompanying her as we visited some famine camps in Ethiopia, the Karamoja district of Uganda and Somalia, i found her to be humble and full of passion for the poor. She was the first well-known film star who braved the terrible, unhygienic conditions with no running water, using a bed pan and sleeping in bug infested beds.
